This decision follows confirmation from Public Health authorities that the beach is affected by “microbiological contamination.” Water samples were collected this past Monday, and laboratory analyses concluded on Tuesday.
The Yaiza Town Council urges the public to heed the advisory against bathing while municipal technicians investigate the causes of the contamination and Public Health conducts further analyses.
Residents and tourists are encouraged to enjoy other nearby beaches, such as those located within the Los Ajaches Natural Monument (known as the Papagayo beaches), Playa Flamingo, or even the small town beach.
Public Health will continue to take water samples until laboratory results confirm that the water is safe for bathing. Once deemed safe, the Town Council will order the reopening of the beach.
